e-Smart® Technologies CEO to Address China ePassport Forum 2005

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 18, 2005 / PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ — e-Smart® Technologies, Inc., (Pink Sheets: ESMT) ("e-Smart®" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that Mary Grace, the company's President and CEO, has been invited to be a featured speaker at the influential China ePassport Forum, which will be held on April 20, 2005, in Beijing China.

The forum will bring together experts from around the world to discuss next-generation chip-biometric machine readable travel documents (MRTD's). Keynote addresses will be delivered by the China Ministry of Public Security regarding the status of the China ePassport project and also by experts and representatives from private industry, including Infineon, Phillips, Unisys, Axalto and Oberther Card Systems, along with e-Smart® discussing the future of biometrics in passport technology.

Ms. Grace has been invited to speak to the forum about e-Smart®'s advanced Super Smart Passport™, which experts believe to be the first, and perhaps only, market-ready "e-passport" that authenticates its holder's identity via its own on-board fingerprint sensor and on-board biometric matching system, both powered wirelessly. Additionally, Ms. Grace will unveil how the company's Super Smart Card™, with complete on-card biometric matching system, coupled with its no-fraud architecture, combines for deployment as a razor-thin hybrid e-passport and/or e-Visa.

"It is such a great honor for e-Smart®," said Mary Grace, "with our partners from Guoxin Wel Tele Com, which was established under the guidance of China's Ministry of Information Industry as part of the development of the Chinese Information Industry, to present our Next Generation "e-passport" with e-Smart®'s Super Smart Card™ to the distinguished gathering at this forum." "It is our privilege," continued Ms. Grace, "to be joined in the presentation and demonstration of our advanced systems technologies by our partners from Daewoo International and Mybi. We are most honored to have the opportunity to speak to this respected group of experts assembled in Beijing, who share the common interest in the security of their countries and the world being furthered by the use of biometric technology in passports and I am particularly eager to share with this audience e-Smart®'s advanced Next Generation 'Match on Passport' biometric technology and how it can increase security, protection and privacy for countries and their citizens. This is a very exciting time for the biometric technology industry and we at e-Smart®, along with our wonderful partners, are honored to have a voice in the future of this important world-changing technology."
