Good morning everyone and thank you for
your kind introduction.
It is indeed an honor and privilege to address my dear old friends from
the great Republic of Korea, the great People’s Republic of China,
the great country of Japan, the great Republic of Singapore and to address
my new friends here at the ‘First Inaugural General
Meeting and the First Conference of Asia IC Card Forum’ –
‘One Card, One Asia – on the Silk Road’
Congratulations to all of you who have done such a splendid job to bring
this great vision and historic event to fruition.
I know that all of you, from Korea, China and Japan are so very proud
of your countries’ great cultures, heritage and history which have
flourished for thousands of years. Your many struggles, achievements and
triumphs through to any centuries have given you great wisdom. The richness
of your history is truly impressive. Equally as impressive is that, today,
your countries are among the world’s leaders in IT, and you are
now working toward creating a secure IT world for the future which can
help create a more secure world.
In these early, emerging years of its youth, IT is being exploited by
hackers, criminals, insurgents and terrorists, who presently attack the
security of IT …and, thus, the security of the world, and they threaten
the future of both, and also threaten the success and future of your great
vision of a One Card One Asia.
“IT Criminals” steal peoples identities, they steal people’s
money, they exploit and steal money from government agencies, social benefit
agencies and threaten to bankrupt them……they steal money from
banks, credit card companies, businesses and merchants. They do not use
a gun to commit their theft, instead, they use IT insecurity as
an easy weapon to carry out their crimes successfully.
IT infrastructure must be secured against all attacks and, is the most
important consideration in setting standards that will make a One Card
One Asia successful, and secure it against attacks that could defeat it.
But with the right security, I know nothing can defeat such a great vision.
Experts agree, it can be secured with advanced IT technologies such as
e-Smart®’s Biometric Verification Security System™ or BVS2™.
For example, among other things, the…Biometric Verification Security
system or BVS2™ can:
1.) Prevent identity theft,
2.) Prevent the use of stolen or lost - bank, payment or credit cards,
2.) Prevent the use of stolen pin numbers, or lost or stolen IDs,
3.) Prevent the collection of multiple government benefits using different
names or stolen identities,
4.) Prevent cheating social benefit, medical and insurance programs, among
others, as well as
5.) Prevent unauthorized access to government or corporate computers and
confidential information
In short, the proper use and implementation of systems such as the BVS2™
can prevent hackers, criminals, insurgents and terrorists from being able
to use false, stolen or illegally obtained IDs to gain access to secure
nuclear, communications, power and other governmental facilities….
or to use their tricks to access your or my or any other persons’
computers, or to enter buildings or to gain access to a train, bus, subway
or their respective stations …or to a plane or airport to perpetrate
crimes of physical and economic Terror.
The future of the IT World could be defeated by its Insecurity.
Government Agencies could be bankrupted by IT Insecurity.
And terrorists can exploit that IT insecurity to strike anywhere at anytime.
We must secure our IT and our countries, and the world, our futures depend
upon it.
To dramatize the challenges we face and solutions to the problem, I present
to you a short video presentation featuring our Biometric Verification
Security System™, the BVS2™. This video was made for a recent
presentation to the U.S. Government However the United States is by no
means the sole target of terrorists or IT criminals. The entire world
is a target.
On 9/11 Planes were used as bombs on landmark buildings, and a government
Installation, tragically taking the lives of citizens from almost every
country in the world, for the US is a country made up of citizens from
every other country in the world. Terror struck Spaniards on trains. In
Saudi Arabia Terror, terror struck both citizens and foreigners at residences
and at the Oil industry, the life blood of the fuel we rely upon to power
our IT world, which terrorist would like to destroy. None of us can forget
the tragedy of the chemical Terror that struck the Japanese subway system
or the random acts of terror that strike in Russia, Indonesia, Kenya,
Greece, and the list goes on. The Olympics, with athletes from around
the world, is a target and poses a threat to every country’s citizens
and athletes, at this dangerous time.
All are reminders that current security and IT security measures do not
meet today’s security needs and, perhaps more importantly, these
tragic events are proof that no country is immune from such unprecedented
and continual threats. In these dangerous and unpredictable times, every
country, government, business and person is a potential victim and the
economic damage and devastation that such criminals cause threatens everyone,
everywhere.

Never in the history of the world have so many been so endangered by so
few.
The Tragic events of 9-11 changed the way in which the world and the IT
world work. 9/11, sadly, not only took lives, but the attack threatened
the economic stability of an entire nation, which, as a result, threatened
the economies of other countries, and world markets. As a result, priorities
have changed and lawmakers, corporations, banks and schools, others around
the world are confronted with the burden of providing immediate solutions
to today’s security threats. Leading experts believe that the Biometric
Verification Security System™ can provide the solution for challenges
facing One Card One Asia and the world. The applications of this system
and technology are almost unlimited and can provide both the physical
and economic security that is urgently needed in our countries and the
world.
One of the problems that the Biometric Verification Security System provides
the solution for is the urgent need to identify those who would do harm
to a country and its citizens. The number of hackers, criminals, insurgents
and terrorists is small, perhaps less than 1% in each country and the
world. At the same time, there is a need to identify those who will not
do harm and give them a clearance, a ‘Fast Pass’, and eliminate
profiling and hassling of innocent, law abiding citizens, as is being
done when you enter the US now, which is not a good system. Such a system
as the BVS2 system would make the job of law enforcement so much easier
and so much more successful. The Biometric Verification Security System™
(BVS2™) with the Super Smart Card™ and Super Smart Passport™
can provide the solution that can virtually eliminate the tools of the
terrorist’s trade - beginning with the use of illegal, fake, counterfeit
or altered ID’s.
As shown in the video, even before the dust had settled, investigators
were able to determine that the 9-11 terrorists evaded detection and were
able to carry out their deadly attacks in the United States by using real,
but illegal, U.S. ID’s with identities created with altered or counterfeit
“Breeder” documents --- documents easily available today that
law enforcement officials admit are so sophisticated that special laboratory
equipment must be used to confirm authenticity - some were probably made
following instructions contained on the internet for anyone to find and
utilize --- something that existing IT infrastructure did not prevent,
but it can…and it can be secured to prevent it in the future.
IT and the World can be secured with a system like the Biometric Verification

to protect people and secure countries and the world… and provide

For the sake of each of our nations, for the sake of all nations, for
the sake of global stability, we here in this room today as IT innovators,
leaders and professionals have the unprecedented duty and obligation to
insist on the creation and implementation of a global, interoperable,
secure, operating platform that allows our many and diverse technologies
to work together to protect all people and secure all countries. Unique,
piecemeal or stovepipe platform solutions will not work because the gaps
they create are large holes for the “Bad Guys”, Hackers, Criminals,
Insurgents and Terrorists to use, to operate, unimpeded. Today’s
realities require global cooperation.
To provide a solution to this problem, e-Smart® has created such an interoperable
platform in its Biometric Verification Security System - BVS2™.
Leading experts believe that e-Smart®’s BVS2™ Platform can
provide this type of global IT blanket security. The applications that
the can run on the BVS2™ platform are almost unlimited and can provide

The SUPER SMART CARD™ IS:
e-Smart®’s new Super Smart Passport™ is believed to be another e-Smart® - World's First, namely, the World's First Market- Ready "e-Passport" that authenticates its holder's Identity by way of its Own on-Board Fingerprint Sensor and On-Board Biometric Matching System both powered WIRELESSLY without the need for any physical connection for power. Communications between this New Passport and Immigration Authorities' Computers takes place Wirelessly as well (dual power also available, as it is both contact and wireless).ISO 7816 compatible (standard contact smartcard system) & ISO 14443 compatible (Wireless Standard).
The Super Smart Passport™ utilizes core e-Smart® technologies developed for e-Smart®'s Super Smart Card™. These technologies operating on the Company's heralded BVS2™ platform (the One Interoperable, Secure Platform needed by government to route all of its Information services), create a System that makes Tampering or Counterfeiting of a Super Smart Passport™ Virtually Impossible. If required, either in addition to the Fingerprint Biometric, For Extra Security or instead of a fingerprint biometric, the "ISO 14443 and/or ISO7816 compatible " Super Smart Passport™ when used with a Reader and Video Camera Combination, can be empowered to do Facial Recognition using the Super Smart Passport's™ On-Board Biometric Matching Engine.
On the Super Smart Card™ all information on the card is in Digital, Non-Readable Form, and Cannot be Seen on the Card and No Information can be Accessed if it is Hacked into.
As we are all aware, Software, like JAVA and others are Vulnerable to Hacking.
To avoid this problem, the Super Smart Card’s™ architecture is based on Hardware Protection and Hardware Multi-functionality. The e-Smart®’s Invizualizing Encryption Technology, Presto-Change-o™ and Software Firewall System in addition to Hardware Crypto Engine is the only Known Secure Anti-Hacking Technology that Prevents All Unauthorized Access to Confidential and Personal Information.
The Proprietary Sensor used on the Super Smart Card™ is State of the Art and Not Subject to Inaccuracies Associated with Other Sensors on the market, Nor is it Affected by Hot or Cold, Wet or Dry Climate Conditions.
Today, there are other smart cards on the market that utilize technology that can be Compromised, Manipulated or Counterfeited. The Super Smart Card™ Cannot be. Cut off Fingers, Dead Fingers or Lifted Fingerprints Cannot Activate the Super Smart card, Eliminating the Possibility of Stolen Identity and Misuse of the card.
The Super Smart Card™ is of No Use to Anyone but the True Cardholder as it can Only be Activated when the True Cardholder places Their Finger on the card’s Fingerprint Sensor. Lost or Stolen cards Cannot be Used by Anyone, Anywhere, at Any time.
The Super Smart Card™ authenticates a person’s identity Without disclosing Personal identification Numbers, such as social security, driver’s licenses or passport numbers, and does not disclose any biometric information, except to the Authorized Government Agency and Does Not Disclose Any Biometric Information, Except to the Government Agency or Business Authorized to see the information. No Personal information, such as a photograph or fingerprint, is visible on the Face of a Super Smart Card™ (but Can be if a government agency, company, bank or school, etc. requires it to be).
The Super Smart Card™ can store multiple, different, confidential pieces of information, such as social security numbers, credit cards, drivers’ licenses, security clearances and student ID’s. This personal information can only be accessed by the authorized user, government agency or business, eliminating identity theft and saving taxpayers and consumers tens, if not hundreds, of billions lost through identity theft and financial fraud.
To give you yet another example of the power and financial impact of identity fraud and the need for protection, consider the findings of a 1997 study by the Social Security Administration. According to the report to Congress, 277 million people were social security cardholders, while the population of the United States in the same time period was only 268 million. This, of course, meant there were at least 9 million people who had been issued cards that either died and went unreported or were non-citizens who had left the country, or were multiple or fraudulent Identities being used to illegally collect benefits. Whether those 9 million unaccounted for people were receiving financial benefits is unknown. But it is estimated that there is 10% fraud in the US social security system or higher. That is $40 billion a year or more.
Additionally, a recent report by the Inspector General of the Social Security Administration reveals that 1 in 12 foreigners receiving social security numbers did so by using Illegal and fake documents. And, as I mentioned earlier, tragically, this is the case of many of the 19 hijackers on September 11. They had falsely obtained social security numbers, allowing them to open bank accounts and obtain credit cards in order to carry out their criminal and terrorist acts.
According to a recent official report of U.S. Federal Trade Commission, an estimated 27.3 million Americans have been victims of identity theft during the last five years - - - 10 million victims in year 2003 alone.
This report went on to state that during year 2003 this identity theft cost U.S. consumers $5 billion in out-of-pocket expenses with a cost to U.S. businesses and financial institutions nearly $48 billion. Like the 9/11 tragedy, these losses were caused in no small part due to the failure of existing IT infrastructure security. These are statistics from the US. When you add the statistics from Asia and the world, the numbers are staggering.
